Biomarker discovery Precision oncology

Our oncology-focused lab specializes in biomarker discovery and precision oncology, with particular expertise in liquid biopsy techniques. Liquid biopsies, which are minimally invasive tests that analyze blood samples to detect cancer-specific biomarkers such as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and extracellular vesicles (EVs), form the cornerstone of our research.

The lab employs advanced molecular techniques to monitor treatment efficacy, identify targeted therapies, and discover biomarkers to guide treatment decisions and enhance patient outcomes across various cancer types, primarily lung cancer.

Key research areas include:

  • Identification of specific cancer-related alterations using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in circulating DNA and RNA.
  • Visualization and analysis of extracellular vesicles derived from cancer cells and investigation of cell-to-cell EVs-mediated interaction.
  • Discovery and validation of biomarkers linked to resistance against tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immunotherapies.
  • Development and optimization of liquid biopsy methods for early cancer detection, Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) monitoring, and personalized therapeutic strategies.
